Video Update: First Impressions Of NAB 2016 + A Huge Discount On FilmConvert!

Day 1 of NAB has come to an end, and while there were some notable announcements made at the show, there were also plenty of disappointments. In the future I will be doing a detailed writeup on some of my highlights from NAB, but for now I wanted to share some of my initial thoughts with all of you, since I’m fresh off the show floor.

For those interested, check out the 5 minute video below during which I outline some of my thoughts on NAB 2016 so far.

Be sure to leave a comment below and let me know what some of your highlights have been so far, and what you would have liked to see at the show.

FilmConvert NAB Discount

As many of you know, I am a big fan of FilmConvert and use their plugins and software on the majority of my video projects. With that in mind, I’m excited to announce that for a limited time (until this Friday, April 22nd), FilmConvert is being offered at a heavily reduced rate.

Currently, the software is available for 25% off the purchase price, but you can also get an extra 10% off your purchase price by using the code “KROLL” upon checkout.

If you are in the market for FilmConvert, be sure to visit their website by clicking this link, and remember to use my discount code!

That’s it for now. Looking forward to sharing more soon…

    Dear Noam,
thanks to your code + NAB promotion I had a big discount for FilmConvert.

It’s a great add to my videos, but I can’t find lot of informations even on their website and I’m using it just by eyes: could you give me some tips for best results? (Which stock does what, which range of curve, color, grain is better to use…)

I’m using it on an additional layer, after a basic color correction, but I’m really curious about your method, since you always have the perfect colors and look I search but rarely reach.

Of course, if you’ll sell a paid tutorial about color correction and grading I’ll be the first to buy it!

    All the best,
    Simo

    • Awesome to hear you picked up Film Convert – it’s such a great tool and I think you’ll love it. Honestly, I wish there was a simple formula for picking the right stock/setting for your images, but it is really different every time – for me at least. I end up going back to some of the Kodak Vision stocks pretty often, but I don’t use them exclusively, and will almost always adjust the settings (saturation, color balance, etc.) once the filter is applied.

I am still slowly chipping away at a new video guide series and will let you know as soon as it’s ready!

Try to get a small fact out of Panaconic on the GH5 🙂
or yes, as you mentionend… AF200 seems to be lost in space… It could be a really nice alternative to the FS5 (not to mention the spec akward C100 II)

    • I tried but got nothing! AF200 seems now to be less likely than ever to become a reality. At least for now we have the FS7, but I still don’t like the colors off that camera.

Thanks for the update. Very disappointed thus far with Canon. Might be jumping back to Sony….

    Keep up the good work!

  • Hi Noam,

    Nice little video.

I see you didn’t mention the Kinefinity Terra camera (probably the most interesting product announcement I’ve seen this year).

    Have you checked it out?

    • Thanks Oliver – I haven’t yet seen it in person, but really want to check it out. I’ll be sure to post about it if I get a chance to take a look as it seems quite promising.
